Marriage Visitor Visa

The Marriage visitor visa is intended for those over the age of 18 who desire to go to the United Kingdom in order to give notice of marriage/civil partnership or to marry or create a civil partnership in the United Kingdom. To enter the UK for this reason, travelers must possess a valid visit visa endorsed as a marriage visitor, as well as the name of the visa holder’s fiance(e) or planned civil partner.

Eligibility criteria for marriage visitors

To be eligible for a marriage visiting visa, applicants must meet the following criteria.

Must be at least 18 years old
The right to provide notice and engage in marriage or a civil partnership is unrestricted.
Intend to marry or get into a civil partnership within six months after arriving in the UK
Maintain a sincere friendship
Leave the UK before the visa expires
Possess adequate finances to pay the cost of the visit and return travel without relying on public sources

The marriage visitor visa is intended for couples who want to marry or form a civil partnership in the United Kingdom but do not intend to remain or reside in the country after the ceremony. Partners of British nationals or those permanently established in the UK who use this route will be unable to change to a spouse visa while in the UK.
